This was our first experience of hotels with dogs, and we were lucky enough to test it out at the Delta Hotel, which was brilliantly dog friendly. Dog friendly but make it luxury!
What stood out
Dog‑friendly rooms tucked away- Quiet, low‑traffic areas made settling the dogs easy.
- Huge, comfy bed - The kind you melt into after a full day of walking.
- On‑site restaurant- Genuinely gorgeous food (not just “hotel food”), and the staff were so friendly and welcoming.
- Great facilities - Pool and gym on site, which is always a bonus on longer stays.
- Parking on site - £7 per night, which felt reasonable and hassle‑free.
- Great location - ideally placed for York city centre and easy access to surrounding walks.
It felt relaxed, well‑run and comfortable - perfect if you want to explore York without sacrificing space or sleep.

- Yorl City centre 15 mins away
- Bolton Abbey - around an hour away
- Fountains Abbey - also about an hour and well worth the trip
Overall, Delta Hotels by Marriott York felt relaxed, comfortable, and thoughtfully designed. It’s an excellent choice if you want to explore York without sacrificing space, sleep, or convenience - and especially great if you’re travelling with dogs and want a city stay that actually works for everyone.
